Hello Again from Roving Networks!
Hard to believe the holiday season is here. As we approach the end of another fantastic year, we have many things to be thankful for. We've added several energetic employees, settled into our beautiful new office, and we have a growing base of successful customers. In October we launched our new website. With a clean, updated look our website now hosts searchable tech support documents, new application notes and an interactive locator for our worldwide channel partner resources.
Roving continues to invest in our Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technology. We've expanded our Bluetooth support to include Human Interface Device (HID) profile and connectivity for iPad, iPhone and Android smart devices. Our implementation for HID is really powerful. Over and above the standard keyboard, mice and game controller support, we've optimized the device interface and added configuration modes to enable customers to build creative new applications. Smart phones are quickly becoming the preferred controller platform. Customers such as Lark (www.lark.com) are shipping products connected to iPhone and iPad devices using our iOS Bluetooth modules. Wi-Fi is a hot market. We see many customers adopting Roving's ultra-low power Wi-Fi technology in wireless sensor, home automation, location tracking, and automotive fleet management applications. Wi-Fi is the fastest growing segment of our business and now represents about 50% of our revenue. We recently released a new version (2.30) of the WiFly firmware that includes WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup). WPS is the "push button setup" found on all new access points. Later in the newsletter, Rohit describes WPS in his "Pumped Up on Wi-Fi" section.
